A native of Winnipeg, Paul has an extensive media background both as a broadcaster and writer. He has spent the last 19 years working in all three journalistic mediums after studying creative communications at red river community college (1989-1991).
Since 1991, he has worked at length in baseball and hockey in both Canada and the United States, while also applying his skills with smaller broadcast roles in basketball, football and volleyball.
Since 1995, and continuing for the past 15 summers, Paul has worked as the play-by-play voice of the Winnipeg Goldeyes on radio and supplemented his relationship with the organization the last six years as a corporate sales representative in the off-season. On August 11, 2007, Paul called his 1,000th Goldeyes game on the air and the organization celebrated the milestone with a special night and an on-field presentation.
Moreover, Paul was named BROADCASTER OF THE YEAR by Ball Park Digest.com in the fall of 2008. This award is presented annually to the Top Minor League Broadcaster in North America. It was Paul's first such award in his career.
In hockey, Paul was the radio and media relations director for the Regina Pats (1993-1995), Colorado Gold Kings (1998-1999), Phoenix Mustangs (2000-2001) and colour analyst on Manitoba Moose broadcasts (2001-2004). He is now the television broadcaster for the Moose on MTS-TV and SHAW-TV.
Paul has also served as a speaker and master of ceremonies for Winnipeg triple-a hockey for the past seven seasons and he is the annual host of the Selkirk Steelers Fundraising Dinner each February. Throughout his career, Paul has been published regularly in the Swift Current Sun, Winnipeg Sun, Calgary Herald and recently wrote the forward for a baseball book called: “Jackrabbits in the Outfield.”
A graduate of John Taylor Collegiate, Paul’s versatility and interest of sports in general has enabled him to become extremely knowledgeable of most sports-related topics.
Aside from professional and amateur sports, the 43 year old also enjoys several outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting and golf. Paul and his wife, Tanis, reside in St. Andrews with their three children.
